When I purchased my tickets more than four months ago for Madonna’s concert at the AmericanAirlines Arena, my wife and I anticipated a great evening and a chance to see and hear an iconic performer.
The show was scheduled to start at 8 p.m. We needed to leave Broward County by 6:30. We were in our seats by 7:15.
The fact that the show didn’t start at 8 p.m. wasn’t shocking. However, the warm-up act didn’t start until 10 p.m., and Madonna finally appeared at 11:30 p.m., when I had expected to be pulling into my driveway at home. I arrived home at 2:30 a.m. knowing I had a 7 a.m. meeting with 40 business professionals.
In the past, I’d looked at celebrities as people with extraordinary talent, but have never elevated their place of respect above anyone else. Madonna’s actions clearly indicate that she has lost sight of this respect.
