Too early to campaign

Re the Nov. 18 article Rubio eyes the prize: 2016: Republican Marco Rubio visited Iowa just days after a national election. Here’s a senator who was sent to Washington to work for his constituents in Florida, courting Iowans in order to build support for a potential bid for the presidency in 2016.

Isn’t there enough for Congress to do toward trying to avert another recession before the Dec. 31 deadline? Why is any congressperson even thinking of such a thing as building a grassroots movement for his or her next campaign with a fiscal cliff looming?

Maybe if Rubio and others’ paychecks are withheld for the time they are campaigning four years ahead of time, this kind of neglect of duty will stop.
