Miami Gardens Mayor Oliver Gilbert chastised some residents for using foul language at recent turkey giveaways.

“I am not the mayor that is going to let you curse them out,” he said during a Nov. 14 council meeting, addressing the audience.

Gilbert said he recently attended a turkey giveaway where he witnessed people cursing at volunteers because they were frustrated about long lines and a shortage of birds. He said he witnessed the same bad behavior in years past.

“I wanted to remind them of the spirit of Thanksgiving,” Gilbert said. “They should receive these free giveaways with a grateful heart.”
