Jackson beats Norland, reaches regional final

Special to The Miami Herald

“We created a lot of turnovers and we’re able to score off those turnovers,” Booker T. coach Tim Harris said. “We need to keep moving and show we can compete.”

The Tornadoes’ defense limited Gulliver (6-6) for much of the game. Early in the first quarter, Booker T. forced a fumble after a blind-side hit on the Raiders’ quarterback. After recovering the ball, the Tornadoes scored on the subsequent play when junior Krondis Larry rushed for a yard. Larry was key to Booker T.’s offensive efficiency, scoring three times, including a 3-yard run before halftime.

The Tornadoes’ defense held Gulliver to 64 yards of total offense and three first downs for the game. The Raiders fumbled the ball three times, leading to three Booker T. scores.

“We’ve shown that we’ve gotten better,” Harris said.

Offensively, the Tornadoes (12-1) were relentless, scoring three consecutive touchdowns before the end of the first quarter. Junior quarterback Treon Harris, who did not play in the second-half, had 252 yards on 13 completions and threw for three touchdowns.
