Sacred family time

 

Every year, greedy retail stores cut more and more into family time on Thanksgiving by offering early Black Friday specials. Some start as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

These merchants show an obscene lack of respect for family time, not just for their employees, but also for their customers. I love a sale as much as anyone, and I’m a frequent Black Friday shopper. But I refuse to go shopping on Thanksgiving, and I will avoid any merchant that does not respect my precious and sacred family time.

    The number of small businesses in the United States and their economic impact has increased dramatically in recent decades. According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses currently provide 55 percent of all jobs and are responsible for 66 percent of all net new jobs since the 1970s.
