GAINESVILLE -- Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel will start Saturday against Florida State, coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday. Driskel, who sustained a sprained ankle against Louisiana two weeks ago and did not play against Jacksonville State last week, was not limited at all during Tuesdays practice.
Driskels running ability has been important to Floridas offense this season. He has 26 rushes of 10 yards or longer and is the teams second-leading rusher with 424 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Return roles uncertain
Regular kick and punt returner Andre Debose (knee) will play Saturday, but Muschamp said he is not guaranteed to slide back into that role.
Cornerback Marcus Roberson (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) is getting work at punt returner, and halfback Omarius Hines and cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy are competing with Debose at kick returner.
Debose has drawn criticism earlier this season for his poor decision-making as a punt returner. On the season, Debose has 10 punt returns for 93 yards.
