I’ve never liked Jeffrey Loria and I wasn’t in favor of him getting a state-of-the-art sandbox, at taxpayer expense, to play in. That said, Loria and David Samson are seriously shrewd businessmen.
They manipulated local leaders into building them the stadium and, for reasons that may never be known, they acquiesced and also threw in a sweetheart of a deal when it comes to the profits derived from concession sales and naming rights.
Attendance was dismal, which translates into low concession sales. At the end of the day what matters is the bottom line. Loria made a wise business decision in the deal he got on the stadium and on the trade he made. The fact that the fans were betrayed is mere collateral damage.
For those who voted for the stadium, just remember; your grandchildren’s grandchildren are going to finish paying it off.
