Sheridan Street near U.S. 27 in Pembroke Pines closed due to gas leak

A stretch of Sheridan Street near U.S. 27 in western Pembroke Pines remained closed late Monday after a bulldozer hit a natural gas line in the area, according to authorities.

About 4:45 p.m., the bulldozer hit the gas line at Sheridan Street and Northwest 205th Avenue, according to the Pembroke Pines Fire Department. Fire department personnel secured the area, fire officials said, while officials with the gas company tried to stop the leak.

But, as of shortly before 10 p.m., the leak wasn’t fixed, fire officials said. Sheridan Street remained closed from Northwest 196th Avenue to U.S. 27.

Despite the leak, no evacuations were necessary and gas service was not affected, the department said. .
