Speak for the people

 

Who is Grover Norquist? He’s not an elected or appointed official. Yet Republican representatives have signed a pledge with him not to raise taxes.

This is the biggest stumbling block in the way of achieving a decent compromise to avert the “fiscal cliff” at the end of this year when everybody’s taxes would have to be raised if there is no agreement.

Are our elected representatives sworn to Norquist, the ventriloquist who speaks for them, or can they speak for themselves and for the people who elected them?

His claim that the still-unanswered question of where President Obama was and what he did was irrelevant, since Obama was in contact with his staff, was particularly outrageous.
