Normally, we wouldn’t think of driving down to Key West to catch a movie, but this is different. Set for Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, it’s the inaugual Key West Film Festival featurning more than 30 movies being screened at the historic San Carlos Institute on Duval Street and at Tropic Cinema on Eaton Street. Among the highlights: Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut, Quartet, and Starlet, starring Ernest Hemingway’s great-granddaughter, Dree Hemingway. Events are to begin with an opening-night reception at the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum.

But suddenly, there it was: a hard, brownish-gray chevron lying on the sand.
