Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s tense thriller ‘The Birds,’ based on the Daphne du Maurier short story that inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s famous movie, brings its carefully crafted chills to Mosaic Theatre in Plantation this weekend. Kenneth Kay, Kim Cozort and Vera Varlamov play the people who take on an army of avian adversaries. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 3 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, through Dec. 9.
