Police investigate death of man who was punched at Halloween party

The Miami Police Department is continuing its investigation into the death of a man who died after being punched at a Halloween party.

Patrick Shane Prevatte of Miami was arguing with a man at Taverna Opa, 900 S. Miami Ave., after midnight Nov. 1. Police believe a man wearing a white hat punched Prevatte, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Prevatte, 40, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators asked anyone with information to call the Miami Police Homicide Unit at 305-603-6350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 305-471-8477.
