After several weeks of hunting for a man who posed as an FPL worker during a home invasion, Miami Beach police say they need the public’s help to find the burglar.
Police say they have looked for the burglar and an accomplice since late September, when a housekeeper working at an Alton Road home in Mid Beach said a man knocked on the door and said he needed to check power lines in the backyard.
The housekeeper told police that she began to worry when she noticed the supposed utilities worker talking on a radio in the backyard, so she locked the door. By the time she walked across the house to lock the front door, the door was ajar and a man was driving off in a red car.
Inside, near a dining room hutch, the housekeeper found silverware inside a pillow case on the ground. There were also pry marks on an upstairs bedroom closet door, which was where the pillow case was taken from.
It’s unclear if any property was taken from the home.
Police say the burglary suspect is in his 20s, stands about 5-foot, four inches, and wears silver framed glasses. Anyone with information should call Miami Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
