An entire city block in Coconut Grove, from Mary to Virginia streets, will sport retail-level office space to be used by the global consulting powerhouse Sapient Consulting, which currently has a presence on Lincoln Road. The owner of The Mayfair isn’t renewing leases and is evicting The Bookstore in The Grove, among other unique retailers in January. Its civic-activist/owner Felice Dubin and her partner, Sandy Francis, opened the store five years ago believing that the Grove should have at least one bookstore after Borders left. It has become the centerpiece for everything literary and a community favorite.
How can there not be zoning prohibiting street-level office space? What a great attraction for residents and for tourists alike to see people toiling away at their office computers.
