Seminoles kicker Dustin Hopkins is poised to break the NCAA all-time scoring record this weekend. The senior kicker is just three points from breaking Kyle Brotzman’s NCAA record.

Brotzman scored 439 points for Boise State from 2007 to 2011. Hopkins currently has 437.

•  Rashad Greene and Tyler Hunter continue to battle at punt returner, but junior receiver Kenny Shaw is also in the mix. Shaw has been the team’s safe man in the past, his ability to field punts safely may prove decisive.

• Florida State faces a Maryland team starting a linebacker at quarterback after five starters ahead of him were injured. When asked what non-QB had the best arm on the Seminoles, the team unanimously arrived at RS Freshman WR Kelvin Benjamin. The 6-5, 240-pound receiver apparently has a cannon.

“I saw him out there the other day chucking it 80 yards,” Lonnie Pryor said. “The ball flew.”
