Recently I waited in vain — for the second time in three weeks — for a Miami-Dade Transit bus to take me to work.
Fifteen minutes after the bus’ scheduled arrival, I decided that it was a no-show and was fortunate enough to get a colleague to come pick me up. I arrived almost 40 minutes late to the office, irritated. A few weeks earlier, the bus left about four minutes early, making me late for work.
I’m a staunch supporter of mass transit and try to use Metrorail and Metrobus as often as possible. When the service is unreliable, however, it makes it difficult. Perhaps if the transit system were more regular, certain and organized, residents would be able to count on it and, in turn, be more inclined to use it.
