Seminoles QB EJ Manuel denies reports, says his shoulder is fine

Miami Herald Writer

Despite reports that he injured his shoulder on a play in Thursday night’s win over Virginia Tech, quarterback EJ Manuel said he actually just landed on the ball and got the wind knocked out of him.

• After fielding punts was an issue once again Thursday night, coach Jimbo Fisher said he would take the week to decide whether to continue using sophomore safety Tyler Hunter or go back to sophomore wide receiver Rashad Greene, who handled duties previously. The two have combined for three punt-return touchdowns this season.

• Florida State will look to clinch the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference when its travels to College Park to play Maryland at noon Saturday. The Seminoles are 20-2-0 all time against the Terrapins. Their losses came on the road in 2004 and 2006 — each by three points. Florida State has won the past five matchups. Last year the Seminoles won 41-16 in Tallahassee.
