The Oct. 21 article on evaluating Medicare plans reminded me of the importance of healthcare costs for me and the growing aging population. My mother recently retired and enrolled in Medicare. I’m concerned for her age group especially when it comes to affordable, efficient and user-friendly healthcare providers. I have my own difficulties navigating providers’ websites and automated telephone services and I usually end up with more questions unanswered than when I started.
I have been researching healthcare benefits. I’m glad to say that Medicare’s website is user-friendly, and calling customer service is fairly easy. This gives me hope in growing older as I find customer service to be a thing of the past. I question why other healthcare providers cannot make their websites and phone centers more user-friendly. Once that problem is tackled, we might consider improvements in overall healthcare costs and benefits for the working population — always a hot topic.
