Re the Oct. 23 article Rick Scott’s education priorities: I agree with his efforts to expand charter schools to better prepare students for college and jobs. Withholding spending on regular schools is what is confusing to me.
Charter schools get a lot of funding already and are progressing successfully, but, of course, improvement is always met with different obstacles. At the same time I don’t agree with withholding of funds for public schools since they are not where they need to be to help their students be prepared for college. Gov. Scott’s plans for education needs to benefit both charter and regular schools at the same time so that no one is left behind.
