For several weeks, commuters have been dealing with traffic congestion on South Dixie Highway in the Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay areas. The reason for the congestion is the replacement of seemingly good roadside curbs with new curbs that are a half inch higher and not as straight or smooth as the old ones. Granted, some sections have improved turnoff lanes, but it’s disturbing that most of the removed sections seemed sound and intact. Now the roadway on 87 Avenue north of Southwest 132 Street is scheduled for repaving.
The Department of Transportation shouldn’t be so cavalier in spending one of our most rare resources — our tax dollars.
