Don’t worry, commuters: There has not been a real plane crash at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Broward County’s aviation department Wednesday morning was holding an emergency drill simulating a jetliner crash, with volunteers acting as injured passengers. Also participating: more than 100 firefighters, paramedics, police officers and aviation professionals.
Another drill — simulating rushing volunteer passengers to hospitals — will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release.
Drills are required at airports, and Broward held its last one in May 2011.
