It’s likely that the Hurricanes will be without starting safety Deon Bush on Saturday at Virginia.

“It’s going to be tough,’’ Golden said Tuesday, when asked about Bush’s status. “We’re holding him out right now. If I was going to list him today, it would be doubtful.’’

Golden said he will have a better idea Wednesday of linebacker Denzel Perryman’s status. Perryman has a sprained right ankle, and wore a boot during practice Tuesday morning. Perryman and Bush stood watching practice.

Bush, a freshman, has 31 tackles (six for losses) in nine games, with three pass breakups and three forced fumbles.

Perryman, who recently switched from the middle to the outside, has 50 tackles, an interception, a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.

• Several Hurricanes said they planned to vote Tuesday.

“I think it’s very important,’’ receiver Phillip Dorsett said. “The president could determine how your life will be the next four years. We’re going to be young men in the world in four years — I’ll be 23 and on my own. I’m voting for my future.’’
