I thank Leonard Pitts Jr. for his Oct. 31 column, One-size-fits-all morality fails. He’s correct, that if you are truly pro-life, you should open your heart to be inclusive. Life goes beyond protection of the womb, and it’s a shame to see those who celebrate the birth of a child not supporting that child after birth.
Children need food, clothing, nurturing and more. If we celebrate their arrival, we should celebrate their growth and well-being.
Abortion isn’t a one size fits all situation, but keeping it legal will prevent the death of women seeking an illegal abortion out of desperation and fear. I only wish he had reminded them that pro-life means everyone and that some of those children will even be gay, lesbian or transgender.
