Re the Oct. 25 story A horse appears at Southwest Ranches town council meeting in support of new law: I read with pleasure of the new Southwest Ranches law that supposedly “implements the most stringent penalties in the state against anyone who harms a horse.”
The penalty now is a maximum $5,000 fine and up to one year in jail. However, is that not a slap on the wrist for butchering an innocent horse? How about locking them up and throwing away the key?
