Weather alert: Another cool front heading our way

Miami Herald Staff

Cold fronts in South Florida are defined just a bit differently than in the rest of the United States.

Another weak one is heading through Thursday afternoon — highs will be around 80 and lows will be in the 60s.

“It’s slightly below normal, but wow, it’s pretty pleasant,” meteorologist Joel Rothfuss said.

Miami’s average high is around 84 degrees, the average low 71 degrees, Rothfuss explained.

Though the cool air will last through the weekend, temperatures are on their way up.

“We’re definitely seeing a slow gradual warming trend,” Rothfuss said.

Until then, there will be a slight chance of rain Thursday night and into Friday morning, with an almost “nonexistent” chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Fort Lauderdale may see some flooding, but the residual swell from Sandy is decreasing.
