The lowdown: Bonnie and Clyde, Laverne and Shirley, Tarzan and Jane — duos are the bee’s knees. So allow us to introduce you to Wynwood’s latest couple — Junior & Hatter salon.
As for the quirky name, “Junior & Hatter represents a duality in character — almost like a Jekyll and Hyde. ‘Junior’ being the grounded representative of who we are, and ‘Hatter’ being the mischievous and misunderstood artist,” co-founder Andrea Battista says. Partner Mario Silvestri adds, “We specialize in both men and women’s hair and offer the experience and services of an upscale, high- end salon in an artistically cultivated setting.”
The ‘hood: Inside the Wynwood Building, the twosome handpicked the Wynwood Arts District in Miami because their brand complements the neighborhood’s energy and like-minded artsy setting.
The ambience: You won’t spot at an-all white palette here. The 1,100-square-foot space is the result of Battista and Silvestri’s life-long veneration for hair, fashion and design. It’s replete with reclaimed wood installations, bronze, copper and cast iron finishes, and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces — many of which Battista found on his world travels and refurbished and reupholstered.
The highlights: Guests can expect men’s ($45) and women’s haircuts ($80), blowdries (starting at $45) and updos ($90 and up). Color offerings consist of single process (starting at $65), partial highlights ($80 and up), half-head highlights ($120 and up) and full-head highlights (starting at $160). Nail services include manicures ($18), pedicures ($32) and polish changes ($10 to $15). Junior & Hatter also offers the option to book a blow dry with a lesson on how to do it like a professional at home.
