A Miami-Dade teacher and three others in Homestead have been arrested on gambling and drug charges, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced on Tuesday.

Law enforcement had received complaints of illegal gambling and drug sales at TNT Barber Shop, 27389 S. Dixie Hwy. The owner of the barbershop is Paul Lanier, 40. He also teaches P.E. at South Dade Senior High, according to the school directory.

State police searched the shop Sunday with a warrant and found money, betting receipts and tip sheets for professional football games in plain sight, said FDLE spokesman Keith Kameg.

He said there was a pool table and firearms — a handgun and an AK-47 — along with small amounts of cocaine, marijuana and Ecstasy. Kameg said 15 people were inside the barbershop during the search, but it wasn’t clear if anyone was getting a haircut.

Lanier was charged with two counts of keeping a house for gambling and bookmaking.

Also arrested were: Elias Baker, 32, on one count of marijuana possession; Corey Wilborn, 42, on one count of possession of cocaine and one count of possession of MDMA/Ecstasy; and Jeremiah Jones, 30, on one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.

All four men were booked at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
