Last-minute plans with Douglas Rodriguez


If you don’t have dinner reservations this evening, join chef Douglas Rodriguez of De Rodriguez Cuba and a kitchen-full of the area’s top toques for “Cooking Up Dreams,” an evening of food tasting and awareness raising for innovative education programs for Miami-Dade students.

The event is 7:30-10:30 p.m. Thursday in the grand ballroom of the DoubleTree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay, 1717 N. Bayshore Dr. Tickets are $75 via or $100 at the door, with proceeds benefiting The Foundation for New Education Initiatives.

Joining Rodriguez will be chefs Timon Balloo, Susan Bleemer, Steve Calandra, Julie Frans, Lorena Garcia, Veronica Hurtado, Richard L. Ingraham, Lucila, Bernie Matz, Allen Susser, Chef Tony, Carlos Torres, Kris Wessel and Mario Tan.
