The daughter of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio continued to recover Sunday from her injury in a golf-cart accident in a private gated community.
On Saturday, 12-year-old Amanda Rubio was airlifted to Miami Children’s Hospital after she suffered a concussion in the accident, Rubio family friend Miami-Dade Commissioner Rebeca Sosa said.
On Sunday, a spokesman for Rubio issued a statement saying Amanda Rubio continued to recover and was in fair condition.
“She continues to undergo neurological testing. Her long-term prognosis is positive,” Alex Conant said in the statement.
The statement went on to say that Rubio and his wife were grateful for all the prayers offered for their daughter.
Rubio was notified of the accident after coming off stage Saturday while campaigning with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in Kissimmee. Rubio left the campaign trail to return to Miami.
