A broken foot apparently can’t slow down FIU quarterback Jake Medlock.
Since sitting out two games with the foot he injured against Louisville, Medlock, a sophomore, has put together two of his best games ever, passing for a combined 696 yards against Middle Tennessee State and Troy.
Against Troy, he had three touchdowns and no interceptions.
And according to FIU coach Mario Cristobal, Medlock’s foot “… still isn’t 100 percent. He’s not completely healthy yet, but he’s working his way back into it. We certainly missed him when he was gone, but he picked up right where he left off. He’s getting better and better.”
Asked if he was surprised by Medlock’s recent performances, Cristobal said, “Just knowing him, I don’t know if I’d call it surprising. But it’s certainly impressive. He’s a tough son of a gun.”
• FIU practiced in a drizzle for most of Thursday.
