Miami Hurricanes return to practice

The Hurricanes returned to practice Wednesday after having off Sunday, Monday and Tuesday following their loss to Florida State.

“Just trying to get the team rested up and healed and caught up in our academics in trying to alleviate any conflicts from an academic standpoint [in terms of preparing for a mid-week game],” coach Al Golden said on the weekly Atlantic Coast Conference coaches’ teleconference.

Practice was closed to the media Wednesday and will continue to be closed until at least the weekend.

Golden said the Canes (4-4, 3-2 ACC) “worked out for about 90 minutes” in preparation for their nationally televised meeting next Thursday night with Virginia Tech (4-4, 2-2).

When asked how to “attack a bye week,” Golden theorized it really wasn’t a bye week.

“It can almost lure you into thinking it’s a bye week,” he said. “It’s really not a bye week and you’ve got to be careful because Saturday is Monday to us. We’ve had a rough schedule, really 12 weeks straight with a lot of young guys.”

He said they will practice again Thursday and will be off Friday before resuming practice Saturday to concentrate on the Hokies.
