GAINESVILLE -- Florida has made a complete turnaround in the win column this year thanks a complete turnaround in turnover margin.
The Gators finished 2011 ranked 113th nationally at minus-12. This year, they’re in a tie for eighth at plus-11. Surprisingly, coach Will Muschamp attributes much of it to luck.
“You think about the number of interceptions we dropped a year ago — it’s double digits I think,” Muschamp said. “We’ve made a lot of those plays. We still missed a couple, but we’ve made more of those plays this year.”
Through seven games, Florida has forced 15 turnovers — already more than its total of 14 from 2011 — and has only committed four on offense .
• Freshman wide receiver Latroy Pittman (ankle) practiced Tuesday and is expected to play Saturday against Georgia after missing last week, Muschamp said Wednesday. However, defensive tackle Damien Jacobs (hamstring) is more of a question mark.
