Hedy Goldsmith, executive pastry chef at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, will host a fundraiser on Nov. 1 at Marlins Park for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to combating childhood cancer. The event, to be held on the ballpark’s VIP level, will feature sweets from Goldsmith’s new cookbook Baking Out Loud. Tickets are $150 at alexslemonade.org.

Pollo Tropical is raising money for Women In Distress of Broward County by selling $1 Halloween Treat Books containing coupons for three free fountain drinks and $3 a family meal; pollotropical.com.

    ’Check, Please!’ returns Monday
