Even though the economic recovery has been relatively slow and far more work is needed to re-establish our prosperity, I hope that American voters will remember President Obama’s achievements during these past four years.
For instance, the stimulus bill was not a sexy topic and was not always well explained to the American public, but its implementation probably prevented the U.S. economy from plunging into a far more severe recession.
In contrast, a Republican presidency would have probably driven us into a deep Hoover-like depression due to its philosophical opposition to Keynesian government intervention in economic crises.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 passed the U.S. Congress without a single Republican vote in the U.S. House of Representatives and with only three Republican votes in the U.S. Senate.
