I enjoyed reading Ellen Uguccioni’s Oct. 15 article, Why Herald building deserves historic designation.
I remember the site prior to The Herald. There was a small bait and tackle shop there that my dad and I would frequent as we went to the MacArthur Causeway to fish. You could rent a small boat and run around the bay, going to one of many islands to explore.
I don’t think the Miami Herald building is deserving of any protection. It’s not a historical jewel by any stretch of the imagination, and Miami would be better served if the site could be opened up so we can all enjoy the beautiful vistas along the bay.
