Acconci named Design Miami’s Designer of the Year


The Brooklyn-based architecture and design collaborative Acconci Studio has been named Designer of the Year by Design Miami, the design fair that runs in conjunctive with Art Basel Miami Beach.

As part of the award, the Miami Design District has commissioned a permanent playground structure by Acconci Studio. It won’t be ready for the December fair, but designes for it will be part of an Acconci exhibition in the district during the Dec. 5-9 fair.

Founded by Vita Acconci in 1988, Acconci Studio is known for fluid, shifting spaces designed to encourage unexpected communal experiences. Design Miami, a global forum on design, is a collaborative of Art Basel and Craig Robins, developer of the Miami Design District.
