For Broward County Animal Care and Adoption’s “Howl-o-ween FunFest” celebration, reduced adoption feels for dogs and cats will be $15. The event runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fort Lauderdale Adoption Center, 1870 SW 39th St.
There will be trick-or-treating for children and live music. Anyone who adopts will receive a voucher from Pet Supermarket for supplies and free pet food.
“Halloween offers the perfect opportunity to have some fun, but most importantly to find homes for as many pets as we can,” said Lisa Mendheim, public education coordinator, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption. “We hope that with the reduced adoption fee people will come to us this weekend and save the life of a homeless dog or cat."
The agency is trying to win the ASPCA’s $100,000 adoption challenge by completing 1,636 adoptions between Aug. 1 and the end of October, 300 more than during same period last year.
