Although Wayne Times has been Mr. Steady among FIU’s receivers, Willis Wright suddenly has become Mr. Spectacular. In FIU’s 38-37 loss to Troy on Saturday, Times, a senior, extended his streak of at least one catch in a game to 25, third best in FIU history. Times had four catches for 33 yards against Troy. Meanwhile, Wright, a junior, had his second game in a row of more than 100 receiving yards, with six catches for 129 yards.
Times and Wright are two of the reasons quarterback Jake Medlock has thrown for 696 yards in the past two games. Against Troy, Medlock passed for 316 yards and three TDs.
• Kicker Jack Griffin broke FIU’s all-time scoring record against Troy, upping his total points to 239. That surpassed Adam Moss’ 232 points from 2002 through 2005.
