Woman shot in Little Haiti robbery; suspect in custody



A man accused of shooting a woman in a Little Haiti robbery is in police custody.

The woman, who was shot in the hand, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is expected to be OK.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which happened around 2 a.m. Monday at in the area of Northwest Second Avenue and 40th Street.

A perimeter was set up along First and Second avenues and 49th and 51st streets. The SWAT team searched the property of Shadow Lawn Elementary, but the suspect was found inside a house in the 100 block of NW 51st Street.

Police have not released the man’s name or the charges.
