As a moderate, and a former member of the Broward Democratic Executive Committee, I support Amendment 6 in the November election. The measure ensures that government health plans would not pay for elective abortions, keeping in place the current law that President Obama endorsed when he signed the Affordable Care Act. Amendment 6 also would make sure the state’s privacy laws are no longer twisted to stop parental consent measures. It’s a common-sense law that moves us toward a reasonable compromise on abortion. Regardless of political background, all Floridians should vote for it.
