A Dania Beach man is in police custody, facing charges hit-and-run charges in the death of a man last Christmas Eve.

Jonathan Dwight Patterson, 23, was identified through Crime Stoppers tips as the driver of a 2006 white Dodge that struck and killed Robert Consavage, 46, on North Ocean Drive in Hollywood.

Five days after the fatal accident, Hollywood Police found Patterson and the owner of the car just as they were taking the vehicle to a body shop for repairs.

The State Attorney’s Office took Patterson into custody Sunday. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death without rendering aid.
