FIU coach Mario Cristobal was impressed with what he has seen of Troy on film.

“They are a physical bunch,” Cristobal said. “They certainly are explosive on offense, and their numbers on defense are drastically better from last year. Their safeties are hitters, and they get involved in the running game, but they’ll get back and make a lot of plays in the passing game as well.”

Homecoming

The Troy roster has 25 players from Florida on it but most of them come from North Florida. There are only two players from South Florida: offensive lineman Jimmie Arnold from Belle Glade-Glades Day and running back T.J. Mitchell from Hollywood Chaminade.

“The Florida Panhandle area is right there for them to recruit,” Cristobal said of Troy’s location. “and they recruit really well.”
