Police release video of gas station carjacking that led to high-speed chase

Miami-Dade police released a video Wednesday showing a car robbery at a gas station.

On Tuesday morning, a woman driving a black Honda Accord was parked at a gas station, 11900 SW Eighth St.

A man pointed a semi-automatic firearm at her, ordered her to get off her car and drove away.

On Tuesday night, Miami-Dade police robbery detectives spotted the stolen vehicle on the road. They signaled for the driver to stop. But instead of stopping, Jorge Denacimiento, 35, stepped on the gas.

The high-speed chase ended about 7 p.m., after Denacimiento caused a multiple-vehicle traffic crash on State Road 826 near Northwest 14th Street in Westchester. Several people were injured.

Denacimiento then got out of the damaged vehicle and ran. The pursuit was short. Officers set up a perimeter and a police dog bit and caught him. He is being charged with armed robbery carjacking with a firearm.
