Two teenagers arrested in Opa-locka gang rape

atorres@MiamiHerald.com

Miami police arrested two of the five men who they say raped a teenager at an Opa-locka apartment after kidnapping her at gunpoint.

The 19-year-old told police that she was raped Tuesday. She said she was walking to her car, which was parked near LaundroMart at 279 NW 79th St., when a car with three men approached her.

Police said one of the men got out of the car — a stolen silver Mitsubishi Galant — pointed a handgun at her and ordered her to get in the car. She did.

The men drove to an apartment complex at 13875 NW 22nd Ave. One of the men said she had to have sex with him and his four “homeboys,” police said.

She called police after they robbed her and dropped her off. Police identified 18-year-olds Hank Edwards and Eric Mitchell as suspects. The car they were in had been stolen on Saturday.

Edwards is facing two counts of armed sexual battery, one count of armed kidnapping and one count of armed robbery. Mitchell faces two counts of armed sexual battery, and one count of armed kidnapping.

Both men were denied bail on Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
