Journalists to share journey and project: Dispatches from the Swing State

Miami Herald Staff Report

Fresh off a 10-day trip across the largest swing state in the nation, Pultizer Prize-winning photographer Patrick Farrell and WLRN/Miami Herald News radio reporter Kenny Malone will share highlights from the 2,000-plus mile Florida journey.

Dispatches from the Swing State was neither a scientific poll nor formal survey, but a quest to capture the faces and voices of uniquely powerful individuals: Florida voters.

The state flexed its political muscle in the 2000 presidential election when 537 votes swept in the winner, Republican George W. Bush over Democrat Al Gore. What the outcome will be in November, of course, is unknown.

But Florida voters have plenty to say about this year’s contenders: President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

Farrell and Malone will present their Dispatches from the Swing State findings at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Ave. in Coral Gables.
