Senior defensive end Tourek Williams, who had two sacks and another half a tackle for loss against Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, got an honorable mention notice from the College Football Performance Awards this week.

Earlier this season, after the loss to Central Florida, Williams was the CFP’s national Defensive Lineman of the Week.

This and that

• As of now, FIU will redshirt four freshmen: wide receiver/kick returner Johnnie Durante, linebacker Josh Glanton, defensive lineman Marques Cheeks and defensive lineman Leonard Washington

• The Oct. 27 home game against Western Kentucky will start at 6 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPN3, the online streaming outlet of the sports network.

The Nov. 3 road game at South Alabama will be a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
