October may not bring us the dazzling hues of fall leaves, but it does bring two stellar Jewish book fairs.
The Dave and Mary Alper JCC Book Festival, at 11155 SW 112th Ave. in Miami, kicks off at 1 p.m. Thursday with former NPR and ABC correspondent Kati Marton, who will discuss her memoir Paris: A Love Story. The festival continues through the month with such luminaries as fiction writer Nathan Englander, Ambassador Stuart E. Eizenstat and musician Michael Feinstein and ends on Nov. 8 with a luncheon with novelist Delia Ephron, sister to Nora, who passed away earlier this year. For tickets and a full schedule, visit www.alperjcc.org
If you live farther north, check out the 25th annual David Posnack JCC Book Festival, which starts Oct. 21 with Rabbi Harold S. Kushner; other authors include local hero Brad Meltzer. Events run through early January; the JCC is at 5850 S. Pine Island Rd. in Davie. For more info, visit www.dgjcc.org.
