Coast Guard finds body of missing boater

The U.S. Coast Guard found Monday the body of a 22-year-old man after the capsizing of his small boat near the Haulover Inlet in Northeast Miami-Dade.

After the boat tipped, one of the two aboard swam to shore and called police to report that he lost sight of his friend.

The boat capsized a half-mile east of the inlet at 2 a.m., the Coast Guard said.

Coast Guard crews from Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach, along with officers from Miami-Dade, Sunny Isles Beach and Bal Harbour, are searching two miles offshore and six miles north of Haulover.

The body was found by the Miami-Dade police dive unit, the Coast Guard said. The names of the two people from the boat were not released.
