Miami Beach’s ousted city manager may have lost a job, but he gained free parking for life.

Former administrator Jorge Gonzalez, entitled to severance because he was forced to resign in May, has demanded a $420,000 payout, city-paid healthcare through May and $35,000 he says he lost in pension value, according to City Attorney Jose Smith.

And during a recent meeting, Smith told elected officials that Gonzalez also wants to park for free on the Beach.

“He wants to buy his car for $15,000. He wants his laptop and iPad, $250 each. And he wants one parking decal for life,” said Smith. “And basically that’s it.”

In Miami Beach, all elected officials leave office with such free parking decals, according to parking director Saul Frances.

“Those we give to everybody,” Mayor Matti Herrera Bower said. “Don’t get hung up on that.”
