Cooper City has had a rough start to the season, but the Cowboys rebounded Friday night and stole a crucial district win with a 31-8 victory over Nova.
The Cowboys (2-3, 1-1 15-7A) got on the board first when quarterback Sean Pratt called his own number and scored on a 2-yard plunge early in the first quarter. Cooper City extended its lead early in the second quarter when Pratt threw a 3-yard touchdown pass that put the Cowboys in control 14-0.
Cooper City’s ground game proved to be too much for the Titans (4-2, 1-1) as the Cowboys amassed more than 200 yards rushing in the game. Running back Zachary Tasse finished with 132 yards rushing and a pair of scores.
Turnovers doomed Nova’s night as the Titans threw four interceptions, three of which found the hands of Cooper City’s Michael White.
• Western 41, Stranahan 0: The Wildcats continue their surprising start in District 12-8A.
Western took command early after Brayon Parrish scampered into the end zone from 29 yards out on its first play from scrimmage. The Wildcats never stopped scoring and put up their best offensive output of the year.
Junior Wade Freeback led the charge for the Wildcats on offense as he completed eight passes for 231 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
Next week, the Wildcats (5-0) host Cooper City in a non-district matchup. Stranahan (0-5, 0-2) will search for its first victory against Coconut Creek on Friday night.

• Dillard 70, Pompano Beach 0: Dre’Sean Nelson scored four touchdowns as Dillard routed host Pompano Beach.
Nelson returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and later returned a punt 82 yards to give Dillard 43-0 lead with just over eight minutes to play in the first half. Nelson also had touchdown runs of 28 and 15 yards.
The Panthers’ (4-2, 2-1 District 15-5A) lead increased to 57-0 at the half. Lee Martin connected on touchdown passes of 38 and 32 yards and finished 3 of 4 for 100 passing yards.
LaDarion McBride rushed for touchdowns of 28 and 59 yards and finished with 100 yards on four carries.
The officials showed mercy on Pompano Beach (0-6, 0-2) as the third and fourth quarters were played with eight minute quarters and with a running clock, but it didn’t prevent Dillard from scoring as the Panthers ran two offensive plays in the second half and scored touchdowns on both of them, pushing the final score to 70-0.
The Panthers did their job on defense as well, coming up with four turnovers.
